What do I clean the Film with once it has been installed?
A drop of household detergent in warm water and a soft cloth. I leave my customers a free “microfibre” cloth designed for this purpose. Do not use any cleaning solutions that contain ammonia.
Are any harmful chemicals used during installation that may harm furniture or have an unpleasant odour?
None whatsoever. The cleaning and installation process is undertaken using distilled water and a mild “slip solution” which is similar to shampoo.
Does solar film and safety/security films get applied to the inside or outside of the glass?
All our solar and safety/security films are retrofitted to the interior of your glass. For areas where access is an issue (e.g. skylights) there is an external solar film available. The only film that is generally applied to the exterior of the glass is Anti Graffiti Film.
Will my home become darker once the windows are tinted?
Our residential solar films are designed to give maximum fade reduction, but minimum light reduction. Generally, our films offer less light reduction than hanging venetians or vertical blinds. It will depend on the level of tint you choose, but we can offer a wide range of options from clear through to darker commercial options.
Will having my windows tinted stop fading?
MEP films will dramatically reduce the fade process. They are the “worlds most advanced”, and with their technology it will reduce fading on your furnishings, by blocking 99% of harmful UV Rays, and reduce the 'burning' of the sun, whilst still allowing the warmth to come in, which is perfect in winter.
Will the film bubble and peel like you often see on cars?
Often the car film is purchased from retailers and sold as a DIY. Film installation is not a DIY product. When MEP Film is installed by Bay Window Tinting's professional, accredited installers it is covered by the Manufacturers Life Time Warranty and is warranted for as long as you own your home. It is not transferable. MEP Films have a 'curing' adhesive, which bonds the film onto the glass.
